Now with cornflower extract.
I should be working on my two-page PoliSci essay right now, but
- this is going to be a quick post
- this ‘post’ has been playing in my head for the past few hours and it’s getting annoying
- I feel bad for the previous days where there have been no new entries from me
- I know becca enjoys looking at my blog and seeing 13 billion new posts.
Skin care is important, especially for teens who are at a stage in their life where putting their raging hormones under lock and key is damn near impossible. The last thing you could want is for a pimple to suddenly appear in the middle of your face just as you’ve gathered up the courage to talk to that cute boy with the flippy hair, the girl with the sweet smile and the even sweeter rack, or the Johnny Depp look-alike who is the pure definition of mysteriously sexy.
So we go to the store to try and find something that could keep our face from breaking out in every direction like preschoolers when the bell rings at the end of the day, but what we’re met with are shelves upon shelves, rows upon rows of products that all claim to be the best for your skin. WOAH. Information overload. There are soaps, scrubs, exfoliants, peels, cleansers, toners, gels, masks… what the heck do all these things do? What do I really need? What will give me the best results? Which product will be kindest to my wallet?
These are all valid questions, and I’m sure there are more. (Like what the hell is a T-Zone? Is that where the Queen gathers with her other queenie friends and have tea and crumpets?) (It isn’t, but I’ll explain what it is in detail another time.)
In the meantime, I’ll just tell you guys about exfoliants quick fast.
An exfoliant is, simply put, somethingthat helps remove excess dead skin cells. Yum, right? After exfoliating, skin always feels softer because the new skin cells have been revealed. It’s good for you, because it helps keep your skin fresh and glowing, rather than clogged-up and rough.
There are a couple things to look out for when you go shopping for exfoliants:
- An exfoliant for the face and a body exfoliant are two different things. When looking for one for the face, you should get something that contains smaller particles so that your face doesn’t get roughed up or dehydrated as easily.
- Even companies that claim to be “100% all-natural” should have their ingredient section checked. If you see an ingredient with “poly” and/or “ethyl” in the name, it means the product contains plastic. Not only is this bad for the environment, but this is also bad for your pores, which will clog up more easily.
Out of the exfoliants that I’ve tried, my favorite has been St-Ives Apricot Scrub. Super grainy = super soft skin afterwards. My face always felt tight afterwards though, and I wouldn’t use it more than once every two weeks for fear of it drying out my skin too much. If you have very oily skin, you could use it more often; like once a week.
I’ve recently found out, however, that there is a much cheaper and more natural way of exfoliating your skin:
sugar.
All you have to do is mix white sugar into your moisturizer in a small bowl. (I suggest equal parts sug&moist., ~ 1 tspn of /ch.) This isn’t one of those recipes that is super messy and drips everywhere. The hardest part is resisting the urge to lick your fingers.
Rub the sugar&cream onto your face in small, circular movements. Don’t ever rub exfoliants harshly, because all that will do is irritate your skin and make things worse. Wash it off with warm water.
You don’t need to wash your face beforehand, although you may still need to moisturize afterwards.
I tried it for the first time tonight so I’m not sure how well it works, but it seems to be doing well so far. I’ll be doing this one a week for a month of so, and if you don’t see another blog about me ranting about it, it’s probably because it works well. ☺
(Talk about “short post”. I’ve kind of gotten into the writing mood, so I’m not so reluctant to work on my PoliSci assignment. Still. This was more fun. Was this terribly random-in-a-bad-way//not useful//boring to read? Would you guys like me to try out other homemade recipes//products? Help clarify certain terms or beauty myths perhaps? Argh, let me know. I feel like I need feedback right now. Either way, 90% of the posts will continue to be blog-related. I just want to know if I should write this type of thing here when I’m in the mood, or if I should keep it all in my head. XD If no one answers, I’ll take it as a no. ☺ JE VOUS AIMEUH QUAND MEMEUH. EUH. … Right, back to writing about Palin.)

the past few days...
Have been complete&utter love.
Joined the Champlain Word, had a FANTASTIC time yesterday at work (kept making Peter laugh really hard, getting (surprisingly) teased by PierOlivier, Melissa calling me LeeLee all the time and making me (: about NouilleYork, showing the new girl comment mettre sa caisse à cent), making a food baby in Kanda with old friends, talking with ShabShab for 1h30 afterwards on his driveway… c’était vraiment relax, felt good. It’s a shame that we’re such close neighbors and that we don’t see each other more often.
Are you happy?
Last (rainy) FrailleDay I was in the bus on my way to seeing Winsane b/c we were feeling emo&missing AB, and I was all *sick* and needed some good ole fashion *love*.
Anyway, the windows were all foggy from the rain and I suddenly had the urge to write something on them. I turned around and rubbed in: “Are you happy? ☺” The little boy sitting next to me (for the record, he was one of the most serious-looking kids I had ever seen.) saw me write that, turned in his seat and scribbled: “Yes.” underneath. He looked at me, still serious, then cracked one of the most sincere smiles I had ever seen.
I know it doesn’t sound like much, but… ahhh, it really made my day, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget that little boy. (: As he left, he turned around (still serious-looking) graced me with another sweet smile and uttered a quick “G’bye.” I love when these things happen. Little magical moments that make me smile inside and out… I hope everyone gets to experience a moment like that at least once in their life.
Ps...
I’ve been into gangsta-shit lately. Wtf?? This is what has been on replay on my iPod recently:
- TI – Whatever you like
- Usher – Love in this club (Eille!)
- 50 Cent – 21 Questions
PPs...
Good night Pompeii. ♥

Je ne m’inquiète pas dans mon papier d’aluminium.
Today was love. <3
Started out with me waking up at 7:10, with my class starting at 8am. Got ready in record time (twenty minutes) and got there five minutes early (with a helpful ride from my dad). Arrived at A231 and the teacher wasn’t even there. The class was open, but Olivia and Melissa and I were talking around the entrance as other people were arriving, so pretty much everyone was just hanging around and chitchatting. It was cool… but then the teacher arrived and it was D:ahhhshit. Hahaha
(Le prof était dix fois plus énergétique aujourd’hui en plus… c’était TROP crampant. Between him flapping his arms and jumping around in an imitation of
Jesus’ return, and karate chopping the air and screaming: “COME AND GET ME!” I was laughing so hard tears started to pour out at one point.
After AWHistory Jade and I decided to go to the caf to eat//finish up our Philoh//Humanities hmwk. Melissa and then Olivia joined us soon after. (I love how we just run into everyone and end up eating tous ensemble. Small schools are love. <3)
Standing in the caf line and trying to decide what we felt like having, we all reached the same conclusion at the same time: our taste buds were screaming for bageuls. AND HENCE, BAGEUL WEDNESDAYS WERE BORN! ♥
It was soooooooo much fun! We hung out and talked, and even though I hadn’t ever really spoken to Olivia before, it felt like we had been friends for the longest time. I love how I get the same feeling from the rest of the girlies, and how things are just SO comfy in my class. Everyone laughs together and talks with each other as if we had already gone the two years of L.A. together. (There’s one exception – but more on that later. Now back to Bageul Wednesdays!)
Jade’s boyfriend joined us, and we wished him a happy birthday a billion times. Olivia was all hyper and jumper ’cause she was on her third coffee by 9am, Melissa was all DFGOIHDFGDF at her cleavage shirt, and Jade kept asking about Philoh question 18. We spent that 1h30 break together and officially agreed to do it all again next Wednesday. Before philoh started, we exchanged cell #s while I told them about The Game (aha, you lost!). I am sooo texting them tmr with that.
After Philoh, I had lunch with Julie, Sam, Farhana, Melissa and Olivia. WE’RE ALL OBSESSED WITH TWILIGHT. At least… Sam, Hana, Olive &I are. We’ve already decided to watch the movie when it comes out, even though we all think Robert Pattinson looks stupid. Sam is Team Edward all the way (srsly – when I told her I thought Edward was too “I’m a perfect stone and I’m cold and perfect and a stone.” she was all; *whips out the Italian hand* “OH MY GODE, YOU TAKE THAT BACK!”) Farhana is bi-twi-sexual ’cause she rolls both way, BUT OLIVIA&I ARE SOOO TEAM JACOB. ♥ Can’t wait to see it with them. X) We kept making “That’s what he said,” jokes, the best one was when I was talking about licorice (“Ooh, I LOVE the red ones with the white stuff in it?”) and Farhanah said “That’s what she said.” On était trop crampé.
I also ran into Emily at the caf, and she introduced herself and basically said that she’s been sitting in the back with Alex since the beginning of class and that she kind of wanted to make friends, etc. It was cute; I told her that she should come join us at the librah upstairs ’cause we were going to work on our Humanities hmwk. She helped me find a fourth source and I helped her do the recapitulative activity; it was mint. (:
Mel, Olive&I walked to the metro together at the end of the day, and ran into Jo and Josh. It took us a little while to find all out seperate buses, but… ahhh. ♥ Today was complete love. (:
Omg today was so fun: hope you all found your bus ok! Yay for tongue piercings, ice caps &sexual innuendoes. Hugs; I’ll see you girlies tmr (:

Request Denied.
I just showed my mum the heels I bought last week, per Lopes’ suggestion. I thought she’d like them (even I like them, and I’m not a heels type of person), but the first thing she said was: “Why’d you buy them?”
All I could say was that they were on sale. I immediately knew she would disapprove of the real reason – that my grade 9-10 English teacher had suggested I get a pair. So she said: “Not a good reason.” She sure does know how to make me feel like shit. Especially after everyone at school kept telling me that they liked them, that I was lucky to be so tall… her opinion matters to me more than most others. Why can’t she just be happy for me? When we go out shopping, she’ll always point at things and laugh because the item is so ridiculous; Who would ever wear that? She expects me to laugh along when in reality I secretly think it looks nice.
The last time we went shoe shopping, she assumed I didn’t want a pair of heels and only picked up the black flats for me wherever we went. Or she’d pick up something she liked and automatically thought that I would fall in love with it too, even if I thought it was hideous. If I said I didn’t like it, she’d sigh and say: “Not brave enough to wear something like this hunh?” It’s not that I’m not brave. It’s that I have different tastes.
…
I don’t know…
I know it shouldn’t matter that much – it’s just a pair of shoes – but I thought she’d be happy to see me grow up. I’m not going to stay her baby forever.
…
I kind of really feel like shit right now.
At least I know Lopes likes them. Not that she completely overrules my mum, but… she is like a mother to me, minus the ‘I want you to stay at home with me forever’ thing. So we don’t get into fights. And she tries to hint me in the right direction. And she listens to what I have to say, which is… Agh, just… so unbelievably nice. She’s like a mom without the drawbacks. I can tell her things I wouldn’t dare tell my parents because she’s patient and knows what I’m saying through my insane rambling.
… I think if I see Lopes tomorrow, I might just pop out the waterworks. I kind of really need to show her the heels though, tell her about all the strangers that came up to me today because of them, and thank her for the advice. Tell her how good and confident they made me feel. And then thank her again, because the second time, I know already, will be said much more sincerely while the first will be caught up in the incoherent excitement.
I think that I really should go see her tomorrow. For my own sanity.

[skin] Relief.
I’m really tired right now, but I have a business assignment and a physical education personal reflection to do for tomorrow. I should really buck up and get it done, but time seems to be running circles around me and all I want to do is crawl to the comfort of my sheets and get some shut-eye. When I get back from school tomorrow, I plan on taking a very long nap.
I have a lot to tell you guys, but since I should really concentrate on my assignments I’ll put the main ideas in point form and (hopefully) come back (soon) to tell you everything in more detail. (:
- high heels (Jeremy, locker girl)
- lunch (Italian hands, blushing, homophobia//racism, spending money)
- making friends (Jeremy, Josh)
- sky-high stats
- bonus points and stickers
- Champlain newspaper (and writing skill’z)
I will take time out to say a big, big thank you to everyone who is reading my blog – whether you’ve kept up with me from the creation of this baby or whether you’ve just found it – thank you, thank you, thank you. (: You’re all amazing, even though I honestly do not know what the appeal is. (Srsly. I’m just a seventeen year-old kid. Wtf do I know.) But whatever. My stats have gone sky-high lately, and although I suspect Valerie checking every single one of my posts out has something to do with that, I’d still like to imagine that the 63 views yesterday weren’t all her doing. Thanks for the early Christmas gift – you guys are the best. ♥

Country First.
“A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for.”
- William Shedd
“If you want change in Washington, if you hope for a better America, then we’re asking for your votes on the fourth of November. My fellow Americans, come join our cause. Join our cause and help our country to elect a great man; the next President of the United Sates.”
- Sarah Palin
Today in Humanities, we learned about fallacies; the most common mistakes people make in their premises. Here are a few types of them:
There’re…
False dilemmas, which is when one makes it seem like there’s only one option when this is not the case.
Red herrings, where one diverts the attention of the reader or listener away from the task or issue at hand.
Slippery Slopes (also known as ‘The Snowball Effect’), where one makes assumptions sound certain.
Looking back at the first Sarah Palin quote I put at the beginning of my post… to me that sounds like a ‘false dilemma’. She’s already assuming McCain will become president. Back when I took my dog to training school, I learnt only one thing: when you pull and drag a dog in one direction, it will only strain in the opposite direction even more. The same goes for humans: by Sarah Palin assuming that McCain will become president, it makes me want to look at my options, look at McCain’s campaign with a microscope to my eye, trying to find flaws in his crusade.
I could be running about in the forest in my knickers right now, free to do what I what, when I want, and how I want. That’s being free. By being a part of this society, I have given up a part of that individual liberty in order to obtain moral liberty. Such is the price to pay if one wants the right to participate in choosing the laws which govern us.
By Palin forestating McCain’s election as president, it makes me wary as to what they are hiding. I want to make my own decisions. It is up to the people – those she supposedly works for – to decide. Not her.
The customer is always right; so instead of telling us what we believe is right, let us make our own decisions. The last thing I want in a vice president (let alone the president himself) is close-mindedness; the inability to see past their own way of thinking. That’s one of the reasons why I like Obama. His lack of experience may have been used against him numerous times just like Palin, but unlike her, he acknowledges and accepts this, but appears willing to grow with America, rather than grow America.
“We tend to prefer candidates who don’t talk to us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco. As for my running mate, you can be certain that wherever he goes and whoever is listening, John McCain is the same man!”
- Sarah Palin
a) John McCain is the same man, yes. But that doesn’t say anything about his opinions staying the same wherever he goes.
b) What I want to know is ; How can McCain pick Palin as his vice president after viciously attacking Obama’s lack of experience time and time again? McCain ads can be quoted as stating Obama is “dangerously unprepared”. And yet… Palin has been the governor of Alaska for two years, and was the former mayor or Wasilla (popl. 6 700). Her college education ended at the University of Idaho, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Obama is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
“As mayor of my hometown, and since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves.”
(crowd cheers)
“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer… except that you have actual responsibilities.”
- Sarah Palin
Let me just say that… I hate when Americans cheer over anything and everything. I know I’m generalizing and being unfair but… They cheered after that first sentence which, quite honestly, was a load of hocus pocus. Some say she was ’sticking it to the man’, but don’t tell someone how to do their job if you’ve never been in their place before, lady.
Argh, it’s 12:21AM. I should be in bed right now, I’ve got to get up in six hours. Sorry about that political rant guys, it really came out of nowhere. I’m not usually big on politics, but I just do not want to have Sarah Palin as vice president and self-professed Hockey Mom in possession of nuclear codes once she comes face to face with Vladimir Putin and only knows how to press the big shiny red button because she never studied what the other buttons do. You never give a gun to a 5 year old. You never give the gun. The last thing America (which, newsflash!, includes North America – us Canadians – and South America) needs is another president who is supportive of destructive and abusive policies. I don’t know about you guys, but I am dead sick and tired of waking up to my radio in the morning informing me on the latest war and terrorism stories. Shouldn’t the adults be teaching us kids to keep violence to a minimum, rather than to poke big bears with sticks? I really wished I had a say in this presidential election. I really, really do.
And just a quick recommendation : www.pixlr.com It’s like photoshop, only simpler, and you don’t have to download the program. (:
And on that note ; I REALLY AM GOING TO GO SLEEP NOW. G’night. <3
PS : I nearly forgot to add what sparked my sudden Palin-rant; they’ve made Sarah Palin action figures. No joke. You can go see more about them here. Comes with costumes changes too. Anyone here know how to voodoo, by any chance?

Sharing sandwiches
so I’m in my fundamentals of business class and the teacher is taking les presences and… urgh. I wish I hadn’t taken this class. LOL. This guy in front of me is playing pinball. niiiiiice.
It’s 12:31 ; just came back from lunch. It was so much fun – I ate with a whole bunch of girls from my LA classes, and we chatted and laughed the whole time. (: This one girl – Farhannah – didn’t have her lunch, so I gave her one of my sandwiches. Thank God I asked my dad to make me two this morning.
We talked about Philoh (and the lack of taking good notes), Alex (the only ‘real’ ‘guy’ in our class), eating cereal + ketchup (sans milk por favor), jobs, clothes… a lot to cover in a short half hour, hahaha. It was fun though, getting to know these girls. (: Especially because I hadn’t really talked to Sam before; she was really sweet and reminded me of another italian friend – Ralphie.
The teacher just passed an exercise sheet around so I gotta read about business shit.
but ps ;
- saw the guy from yesterday’s comp lab at the librah
- my english teacher talked about fantasies. it was hilarious. Sam baa’ed. (:
