my fifty things

these are fifty things i’ve done during the first 16 354/365 years of my life.

1 | I’ve ridden on the back of a motorcycle.

2 | I’ve read an entire book in one sitting.

3 | I’ve burnt the bottom of an entire batch of cookies by forgetting they were on because I was so engrossed in a conversation.

4 | I’ve driven a boat.

5 | I’ve never touched a single ounce of drugs, smoked a cigarette, or drunk any alcohol, and I’ve never felt like I was missing out.

6 | I’ve waltzed in the rain with a stranger.

7 | On my sixteenth birthday, I’ve been told by someone I love that they wish I had never been born.

8 | I’ve seen a beluga whale in the wild.

9 | I’ve had a total of fifteen hours sleep over the course of one week. Twice.

10 | I’ve stayed up with someone who felt they had no more hope.

11 | I’ve stayed up to watch the sunrise with someone I met over the Internet. It was beautiful.

12 | I’ve accidentally called each of my teachers ‘Mummy’ at least once.

13 | I’ve lied about my age.

14 | I’ve written a love letter, but he broke up with me before I got a chance to give it to him.

15 | I’ve missed someone every day for three years.

16 | I’ve cried myself to sleep.

17 | I’ve had someone read to me as I was taking a shower, even if I couldn’t hear their voice over the water.

18 | I’ve slapped someone who was twice my size because he stole my cookies.

19 | I’ve stayed inside during recesses more times than I can count because I preferred taking care of the plants rather than hanging out with the other kids.

20 | I’ve been laughed at and called a failure by someone for making my own fun. So I turned around and did it better than him.

21 | I’ve never had a favorite color.

22 | For years, I could memorize every commercial after only listening to them once. I knew all the lines and imitated all the expressions and intonations. It took a long time for me to stop because it became a habit I stopped becoming aware of.

23 | I’ve nearly been kidnapped.

24 | I’ve read well over five hundred books in my life.

25 | I’ve had my art featured quite a few times.

26 | I’ve told a complete stranger they were beautiful. Twice. (:

27 | I’ve stayed in touch with someone I met over the Internet three years ago.

28 | I’ve seen Roger Waters live, in the fifth row.

29 | I’ve pretended the lego man was a mini perfume bottle when I was little, ’cause when I took off his head it looked like one of my mom’s perfume bottles.

30 | I’ve accidentally tried to fit one of my mom’s most expensive lip stick’s into a straw.

31 | I’ve never had a PB&J sandwich.

32 | I’ve given someone a hug and have them cry on my shoulder.

33 | I’ve told a boy he had warm legs just before falling asleep.

34 | I’ve danced and sung my way around a parking lot in the pouring rain in front of a hundred people when a bus was late because everyone was looking absolutely miserable.

35 | I’ve never been jealous of anyone before.

36 | I’ve never given up on someone I didn’t believe in.

37 | I’ve saved a clip of his laughter.

38 | I’ve never made love before, and I’m prepared to wait.

39 | My first kiss was with a girl, and a miscalculation of proportions and distance on my part.

40 | I’ve gotten a bulls-eye in the first three tries every time I’ve participated in archery activities.

41 | I’ve swum a circonference.

42 | I’ve wished to have life lines when I grow old, so people know what a joyous person I am before I open my mouth.

43 | I’ve said something didn’t bother me, when in reality it drove me crazy frustrated.

44 | My guardian angel runs so I don’t have to. (:

45 | I’ve slept with the same stuffed toy since I was two, and now I can’t fall asleep without having something to hold.

46 | I’ve written anonymous letters to complete strangers, just to make them smile.

47 | I’ve been yelled at by a girl because I borrowed a marker and it ran out of ink. Then I had to share my Santa lap time with her, and he thought we were sisters.

48 | I’ve been called handsome. It meant more than all the times I’ve been called beautiful.

49 | I’ve loved a man who lived across the sea.

50 | I’ve walked fifty minutes to get to a café before it opened, just so I could read in the silence.

and i still have the rest of my life ahead of me. (:
